Stress and anxiety can explain the sudden weight loss?

even the loss of 6-8 pounds in 2 weeks?

Yes. I lost 4 kilos in a week because of stress, but I am very sick and could not eat anything but soup. If you feel your stress and anxiety takes its toll on your body and life, please go talk to a doctor.

How can I deal with separation anxiety in dogs?

How can I deal with separation anxiety in dogs, occur naturally? My family wants to buy a dog that works well with children, but all these dogs have problems with separation. It is a problem because the dog is to be alone for 7 hours a day when everyone left the house. Any solution?

You may not categorically eliminate all races who have "separation anxiety"! Any race, if approached properly, exercise, provided that the race needed, socialized, training, etc, can be left alone for 7 hours per day. People should work to live, so if you have been told that some breeds can not be alone, talk to breeders wrong.

anxiety therapy techniques

People all around us feel anxious and stressed out due to the present condition of the world. Everyone has their own reason for being stressed out and you can see people wherever you look, be it a small child or an old man, having a worried look. Let’s take a look at a few examples of what makes people stressed out.

A child who has moved into a higher school would be stressed because his parents back home would expect him to excel because the amount of competition is high. A middle aged man has to toil harder by working even after his office hours to hold onto his job because his company is reducing the number of employees.

We just saw two instances which makes people suffer from anxiety and if you think anxiety is a simple word, then think again. Anxiety may cause distress and may severely affect a person’s life. The range of intensity may vary but yet the results are dangerous. You may wonder how come people do not get affected even though anxiety is quite normal. This is because although due to the present day scenario most people suffer from anxiety, people can lead a proper life without anxiety causing any major worry to their lives if it is dealt with properly.

If you are still doubtful whether anxiety therapy is needed, take a look at the problems caused by anxiety:

Ø As a victim of the most generalized type of anxiety, you may have recurring thoughts about losing everything that you posses. The symptoms are quite dangerous because people who suffer from similar experiences are bound to face problems in concentrating on their daily task.

Ø Many people develop various types of phobias that can be really dangerous and that may lead to various other mental illnesses.

The problems mentioned above are just a couple from a never ending list; the impact may vary from person to person. Anxiety therapy is extremely important because if anxiety is not dealt with properly it may cause recurring panic attack, psychological disorder, depression etc.

Here is a brief insight on ways to fight anxiety.

Behavioral Therapy:

This therapy employs techniques that work in reduction or stopping of undesired behavior. A common technique used makes use of relaxation and deep breathing that stops breathing problems that anxiety may cause.

Cognitive Therapy:

Cognitive bevavioural therapy is an excellent Anxiety therapy because it is a different but realistic approach to those who understand how anxiety causes problems since it enables them to take steps to stop the reasons that create anxiety.

Anxiety therapy should be started as soon as possible so that things are kept under control from the very start. You can find more anxiety therapies on the internet but always consult your doctor before starting any particular anxiety therapy.

panic attacks meds

Choosing the right panic attack med can be a process of trial and error. If you’re lucky, the first one prescribed may work in a few weeks.

Sometimes, you may have to try a med for a while and it might not work, so you’ll have to tell your doctor, go off it slowly and try something else.

Because there are so many medications available, one will work, so never worry if something doesn’t. Please, just be patient.

Some Panic Attack Medications

Here are some panic attack medications you may be prescribed, but as mentioned, there are so many of them:

– Imipramine (Tofranil)

– Paxil (Paroxetine)

– Celexa (Citalopram)

– Effexor (Venlafaxine)

– Prozac (Fluoxetine)

– Zoloft (Sertraline)

– Xanax (Alprazolam)

– Ativan (Lorazepam)

– Klonopin (Clonazepam)

The medication can also depend on your situation. If it’s not severe, you may go an antidepressants which is a more long-term form of treatment.

If it’s severe and you need relief fast, benzodiazepines like alprazolam or lorazepam may be prescribed as well in conjunction with antidepressants.

Medication May Require Patience

Panic attacks can be treated quite effectively with medication, even if you have a panic disorder and have had it for quite a while. As mentioned, it could take a while to work.

This is not unusual and don’t take this personally. In other words, don’t think it’s your fault or that you can’t be helped. Also, don’t blame the medication either.

Antidepressants take a while to kick in before you realize the benefits. If there are none, you need to tell your doctor and go on something else.

Sometimes the drug can produce bad side effects, so people want to stop it. This can happen. Given time, it could probably have worked, but side effects are a drawback.

So, be patient with your panic attack medications. You may feel worse before things get better. If you can’t tolerate it, then speak to your doctor. But ultimately, it will work, so be patient and you’ll start feeling better.

anxiety cbt online

anxiety cbt online

Shop around! If you have a friend who has sought therapy, ask him/her for a referral. Even if your friend’s therapist isn’t available, you can ask the therapist for a recommendation to another therapist. You can also check out the phone book or online (under “psychologists”, “counselors” or “mental health”) for therapists in your area.

Ask about cognitive-behavioral therapy. Look for a therapist who does “cognitive-behavioral” therapy (CBT). There are many types of therapy, but CBT has been shown to have very good results for the treatment of anxiety, and the results of CBT treatment tend to be longer term than the use of medication alone. CBT helps you to identify and change the thoughts and behaviors that cause you to feel anxious, and it also typically contains an element called “exposure” that helps you to systematically cope with the sources of your anxiety.

Know your insurance coverage. Find out if your insurance covers your treatment. You can do this by calling your insurance company or your potential therapist. If your insurance doesn’t cover therapy, ask if the potential therapist offers an abated fee (adjusted to your income). For other low cost options, you might also look for psychological services provided by graduate students at a local university or through a community mental health center.

Make sure the therapist is licensed. You might be confused by all of the different titles and degrees that therapists hold. A therapist can have a Ph.D., Psy.D., M.D., LCSW, or other degree. As long as the therapist is licensed by the state to provide psychotherapy and is knowledgeable about CBT treatment for anxiety (see above), the degree is less-important. There is one exception to the requirement to be licensed. In some cases, especially at university-based centers, your therapist may not yet be licensed. This is an acceptable practice as long as the therapist is supervised by a licensed provider.

Ask questions and find a good fit. When you talk to the potential therapist, either by phone or in person, it is appropriate for you to ask questions. You want to make sure that you feel comfortable with the therapist. In the same way that you probably try on a shoe before you buy it, you should find a therapist whom you trust and with whom you feel comfortable. You should feel a basic level of trust in the therapist within the first few meetings. If not, do not take this as a reflection of you or the therapist. Rather, you should discuss your concerns with the therapist so that adjustments can be made within the therapy and your relationship to help you feel comfortable.

panic attacks cbt
i put on a lot of weight thru binge eating when i was suffering depression and panic attacks i was taking cbt?

sessions for this but cannot really afford it now, does anyone know how i can teach myself new habits? or any thing else that might help?

I know all to well how you feel. People I don’t think really know how hard it is to stop the cycle. Its (for those who smoke) like quiting
smoking. My best advice and I deal with this daily too. Is when the urge comes on, sit down
stop what you are doing, and think to yourself
what is making me upset right and how can I deal with this now without putting food in my mouth. I used to binge of sugar foods, it was comfort for me, it made me “feel good.” If the
urge doesn’t go away, and you have to eat something, and I know we all heard this before.
Eat fruit, carrots, popcorn with no salt or butter.
Or if possible take a walk. Find something to do right away. Its hard, if you need to talk please email me. You may fail a few times I know I did, but don’t like that bring you down. Just tell yourself, take time I will try harder.

anxiety midwest center

Anxiety disorder illnesses can fill people’s lives with overwhelming anxiety and fears that are chronic, unrelenting and grow progressively worse. Anxiety disorders cause sufferers to feel a sense of constant worry, tension and impending doom.

Anxiety symptoms can become so severe that anxiety disorder sufferers are almost totally disabled, too terrified to leave their homes, to enter their office building, attend their children’s soccer games or shop for groceries. It is common for anxiety disorder to accompany depression, substance abuse (like alcohol) or another anxiety disorder.

Most anxiety sufferers experience significant physical symptoms including chest pain, shortness of breath, excessive sweating, muscle tightness and a feeling of dizziness.

When anxiety is taking a toll, your body knows it. You have trouble sleeping, eating and concentrating. You get headaches, your stomach is upset and your heart races. It is often the frightening physical anxiety symptoms that prompt sufferers to seek help.

Many don’t realize that their physical symptoms are caused by anxiety until they see a doctor. Anxiety symptoms often produce a severe, unfounded state of worry about matters such as health, money, family or work.

Because they are so intense, anxiety symptoms can cause a person to feel chronically tired and worn out all the time. Restful sleep does not come easily to anxiety sufferers.

Fortunately, through research supported by the National Institute of Mental Health, there are some effective treatments that can help. In fact, anxiety disorder is the most treatable form of mental illness. Treatment typically involves a combination of medication and therapy.

Anxiety symptoms will vary from person to person but the common denominator is that they are all disruptive to the person’s life and negatively impact their ability to function.

In addition to the severe mental anguish, anxiety symptoms often include significant physical discomfort like rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, stomach problems, muscle tension and headaches.

Many who suffer from anxiety panic attack symptoms rush to the hospital because they are convinced they are having a heart attack.

People with social anxiety disorder may literally lose their voices and have breathing difficulties if faced with a situation where they have to do something as simple as introduce themselves to their coworkers.

Anxiety information can go a long way toward helping sufferers and their families decide the best approach to treatment.

Many world-class facilities like the Midwest Center For Anxiety have conducted extensive research and can recommend treatment options. Many mental health professionals use the Beck Anxiety Inventory to help diagnose anxiety and find the best course of treatment. The Anxiety Disorder Association of America provides a wealth of information for anxiety suffers and their families.

It is our earnest hope that this information will enhance your life and allow you to join the millions of people who have conquered anxiety disorder and gone on to live fearless, happy and meaningful lives.

anxiety circulation
Is there any connection to anxiety/panic disorders and circulation?

Now that im on meds I dont have wierd temperature swings that I used to. Like i would wake up and feel like im freezing or my feet in the hot shower would be really red. Any connection to the disorder and a circulation disorder? like maybe the body is so focused on the anxiety and stress it neglects some other core body function like temperature moderation?

Hey, I understand how you feel…

The uncomfortable symptoms like sweaty palms, “jelly” legs, extreme alertness, “impending doom” feeling and the fight-or-flight response.
I’ve been there. I’m an ex-victim. Sometimes the deep breathing or distraction techniques doesn’t work – a full-blown panic or anxiety attack happens later.
Sometimes you experience panic attack out of the blue and such.

Do NOT buy Panic Away, Linden Method, EasyCalm or the Panic Puzzle. They do NOT work – I’ve tried them and their solutions are similar – it DOESN’T WORK.
Medications do NOT work – I was under many antidepressants (Prozac, Lexapro, Paxil and Zoloft) and anti-anxiety medications (Ativan, Klonopin, and Xanax) but my condition was the same – no improvement at all.

The only program that really work is The Panic Attack Solution. It’s found by an ex-victim. You can check out his old blog in his official website to read up some useful tips.
But the package is the best – it teaches 17 powerful techniques and the real solution to panic attacks. I’ve bought it and it really helped me – it’s the BEST anti-anxiety package or book I’ve read.
His theory really makes sense and it works effectively!

You will learn why your panic attacks can happen without warning sometimes; why having stimulant causes panic attacks; and many-many other useful tips!

Claustrophobia and Anxiety Therapist in Manhattan or Stamford CT?

Hi – Can anyone recommend a reputable therapist that help cure Claustrophobia/Anxiety attacks in Manhattan or in Stamford CT? Thanks in advance for your legitimate answers.

I’m sorry I don’t know for that specific area. But did you know you can go to your regular MD? From that regular doctor you can get a basic prescription, or a referral to a therapist that they know. Claustrophobia and anxiety attacks are a big deal in your life, and they are very common (though people don’t talk about them much). The treatments — both medical and therapy-related — are pretty straightforward, and the BEST therapist is one you feel comfortable with. So even if you dodn’t have a recommendation, you can decide if you want to see a man or a women — and if it matters to you if the therapist is older or younger. It is okay to ask them some questions on the phone, like how much they charge, if they have dealt with a lot of anxious clients, how they feel about meds, if they take insurance, etc.

I really wish you well. Anxiety and claustophobia have physical components, not just mental ones, and it’s normal to need help from a professional. Nobody should expect to just pull themselves together or snap out of it or any other insensitive suggestions made by people who don’t really know what they’re talking about.
