I have anxiety and fear "?

When I started having problems when 8 years ago. I am a man. I had a parent with problems mental health when Growning UP has been difficult to treat as a child. Everything was pretty normal for me Through my twenty years until my marriage started to fall Hill, divorce and former member of the family there. It was devistating. I started having anxiety and fear of going to work. My heart will fluctuate and my breathing agitated. I started to have allergies to pollen, too. I went to the Docters and told me I have anxiety. You can not even feel comfortable in public or social situation. I tried one after the other SSRIs and other medications for anxiety 6 different not worse or no side effects were too bad. I have tried exercise, breathing, bvitamins, but still seems that its always just going to be there. Dred makes me go to a store to the point that I avoid because they do not run into anyone I know. Ive been off the pill almost 2 years now. Any suggestions?

Do you have panic attacks? Those who are different from anxiety. Anxiety disorders are so intense that feelling a person is unable to funtion from day to day basis today. Panic attacks are periods of intense fear and physical discomfort, in which a person feels overwhelmed and frightened by a sense of great body that makes a person feel out of control. Some symptoms are a pounding heart, sweating, trembleing, lack air, etc.. A person can Hove one or more of these symptoms. There is social phobia in which individual experience is specific to certain situations and then is Agoraphobia is more widespread, which means an intense anxiety of being caught trapped, lost or trapped in a situation without help if a panic attack occur. Ok now with all these is the treatment. Medicines are useful but should be some thearpy that goes with it. Such a gradual exposure. If the store is causing anxiety, then slowly work your way. Start with a small shop that makes little anxiety and work your way to the larger store. There are also relaxation thearpy where the psychologist will tell your body tense, then relax. I recommend you go see a psychologist to tell you what happens to you and ask about cognitive behavioral thearpy. More about thearpy relaxation and exposure to graduate. Note that it will not improve overnight. It will take time and effort. Also note note that I will not live like that, because only worsen without assistance. From what I understand that maldaptive thoughts and learning experiences that probably started defective in childhood and then developed further during his divorce. Despite his talk with a psychologist about your family history that also give a better picture. The most say more opportunity to heal. Meaning, are the type of treatment that suits your needs. How to fix my stutter?!?

I stutter when I have a lot of anxiety in a given situation. The biggest problem I, myself is the introduction of new people. I have a very hard time saying my name. The problem is at its peak when there a little something I have to say, as when he introduces you always by name. Answering the phone can be a challenge too. It also comes in waves. Some weeks are weeks are good and some bad. I am 24 and this started probably around 19. I would say it has worsened. I'm not sure I can get a solution. What kind of doctor would be able to help. I know there a correlation between anxiety and stuttering. Can anyone help?

Anxiety disorders can totally change and upset the life of the sufferer as well as that of his/her loved ones. These disorders are based on anxiety, fears, and or phobias.

A simple definition states that anxiety is worry that is illogical or irrational, it is not based on facts. Obviously a person suffering with an anxiety disorder may not cope well with daily annoyances and frustrations.

Anxiety disorders are the most common of all mental health disorders. It is estimated that approximately 30 percent of the American population may be affected by anxiety disorders.

Anxiety disorders can be chronic and debilitating. The disorder can start at an early age or it can be triggered at any point in life.

The sufferer may feel anxious most of the time. This usually results in feelings of exhaustion and fatigue. This disorder seems to worsen during periods of high stress.

Anxiety attack symptoms are usually accompanied by strange or depressing thoughts and feelings of despair. Anxiety attacks occur without warning and the sufferer may experience any or several symptoms, such as hypertension, palpitations, sweating, headaches, plus many others.

During an anxiety attack the sufferer feels overwhelming fear. But the fear is not reality based. However, the body will respond as if the fear is real. There is an adrenaline release and if there is a real threat the body will use the adrenaline to effectively Fight or Flight. Since this is not a real threat the body will experience and maintain a higher level of symptoms that then escalates into an anxiety attack.

Credibility is given to the symptoms of the anxiety attack which perpetuates more fear and increased symptoms. The anxiety cycle is created.

The cycle is often repeated throughout the life of the sufferer. Many sufferers limit their activities and social outings according to the anxiety attacks. If a sufferer finds a particular situation that seems to provoke the attacks it is likely that he/she will avoid those places if at all possible.

Depending on the severity of the disorder many sufferers slowly and eventually limit activities outside of the home to the absolute minimum. Because most sufferers perceive the home as a safe zone it is the place of choice.

Overtime, with less and less social activity and companionship of others the sufferer is likely to develop depression. Unfortunately many people with anxiety disorders, even if combined with depression, will not seek treatment.

If you or a loved one are suffering with the symptoms of an anxiety disorder you should know that there is help available. Take control of your life and end the anxiety.

Advanced Depression help? Can I get a Brain Scan?

Hi, I suffer from Depression & Anxiety. I have been reading some Articles on the Internet, about getting a brain type scan to pinpoint the affected areas of Depression and Anxiety, which can help towards a succesful treatment. Does anybody know anything about this? Can it be done in the UK? Please help?

Poor you. ITs very difficult to explain to friends and family about your feelings etc if you suffer from this. As a sufferer myself i would be interested in this piece of technology, but have to say i have not heard of it. Your best bet is to have a chat with your doctor. If you are on antidepressants have a chat with the doc next time you have to get a repeat prescription.

In modern days, the technological advancements bring the joy of enjoying the world at the comfort of home on one hand, but also provide an intense experience of stressors on the other. Research suggests that a continuous usage of mobile phone causes anxiety and self-esteem problems in individuals.

Australian Study

An Australian study reports that individuals may experience a feeling of anxiety, and depression due to prolonged use of mobile phone. They may also suffer from self-esteem problems. The problems generally occur as a result of getting addicted on their usage of mobile phones.

Dianne James, Brisbane based behavior researcher, argued that Australians are immensely dependable over the usage of mobile phones in particular. They are suffering with a wide range of problems including anxiety if they are forced to switch off their mobiles and even experiencing low self-esteem if not receiving calls or text messages.

The study included 80 individuals from age-group of 17 to 52 residing at Queensland.

Outcome of the Study

The study revealed unusual outcome. Most of the participants were found obsessed about their mobile phone when they were not allowed to access. Some of them experienced withdrawal symptoms if not receiving any text messages or calls in their mobiles. A few of the participants even reported that they had been suffered from sleep deprivation.

Analysis of the Study

The researchers compared the experience with that of substance addiction. They explained the pattern as same as acquiring instant gratification from substance abuse. It seems that the individuals experience a feeling of detachment if they can not access or use their mobile phones. For most of the participants, it was found that they got agitated during the discussion session when they are asked to switch off their mobile phones.

The study also concluded that the situation is not only based on a particular location, rather it assumed that this situation is quite prevalent both in national and international territory as well, which needs an extensive and increasing focus of attention.

Future Outcome

The study may have been further elaborated through online survey where emotional, psychological, social and financial aspects will be taken under consideration. The expected strength of the participants for this survey will be around 2000.

vicious circle of anxiety?

ive been on anti depressents before they made me feel quite strange and with drawen ,the problem is i have started drinking to calm me down now ,i dont feel i have any choice,is there tablets out there that are speciallised for anxiety and wont space u out so much?
plus im quite skinny because i worry to much and cant put on weight
m not on any tablets just now btw i wouldnt mix the two

The two main treatments for generalized anxiety disorder are medications and psychotherapy, either alone or in combination. It may take some trial and error to discover which treatment works best for you and which you are most comfortable with.

Several different types of medications are used to relieve generalized anxiety disorder symptoms:

(1)Anti-anxiety medications-Benzodiazepines are sedatives that have the advantage of easing anxiety within 30 to 90 minutes. On the downside, they can be habit-forming if you take them for more than a few weeks. For this reason, your doctor may prescribe them for only a short time to help you get through a particularly rough period.

A different type of anti-anxiety medication often prescribed for generalized anxiety disorder is buspirone (BuSpar). While this medication typically takes several weeks to improve symptoms, it doesn’t pose a risk of dependence. A common side effect of buspirone is a brief feeling of lightheadedness shortly after taking it. Less common side effects include headaches, nausea, nervousness and insomnia.

Antidepressants. These medications influence the activity of certain neurotransmitters that are thought to play a role in anxiety disorders. Examples of antidepressants used to treat generalized anxiety disorder include fluoxetine (Prozac), paroxetine (Paxil), imipramine (Tofranil), venlafaxine (Effexor), escitalopram (Lexapro) and duloxetine (Cymbalta).

Whether you try anti-anxiety medications, antidepressants or both, you may need to try several to find which works best for you with the fewest side effects

Psychotherapy
Also known as talk therapy or counseling, psychotherapy involves receiving help from a mental health provider through a combination of talking and listening.

Evidence shows that cognitive behavior therapy in particular can help improve symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder. Cognitive behavior therapy helps you identify unhealthy, negative beliefs and behaviors and replace them with healthy, positive ones. It’s based on the idea that your own thoughts — not other people or situations — determine how you behave. Even if an unwanted situation doesn’t change, you can change the way you think and behave in a positive way. Generally a short-term treatment, cognitive behavior therapy emphasizes learning to develop a sense of mastery and control over your thoughts and feelings.

Treatment for generalized anxiety disorder or any mental illness is tailored to each person. No single treatment regimen works for everyone. Most treatment occurs on an outpatient basis, but some people may need care in a hospital setting.

Some ways to cope with generalized anxiety disorder include:

* Joining an anxiety support group. Here, you can find compassion, understanding and shared experiences.
* Taking action. Work with your mental health provider to figure out what’s making you anxious and address it. For example, if finances are your concern, work toward drawing up a budget.
* Letting it go. Don’t dwell on past concerns. Change what you can and let the rest take its course. Repeat as needed.
* Breaking the cycle. When you feel anxious, take a brisk walk or delve into a hobby to refocus your mind away from your worries.
* Taking care of yourself. Get enough rest, eat a balanced diet, exercise and take time to relax. Avoid caffeine and nicotine, which can worsen anxiety. Don’t turn to alcohol or unprescribed drugs for relief.
* Sticking to your treatment plan. Take medications as directed. Keep therapy appointments. Consistency can help keep your treatment plan on track.
* Socializing. Don’t let worries make you isolated from loved ones or enjoyable activities. Touching base with others offers a healthy diversion.

Anxiety attacks during pregnancy are a very common occurrence for a number of women. * Exercise – during pregnancy it is not only beneficial to the physical well being of the mother, but also to their emotional being. Exercise produces endorphins that are naturally produced by the body. These help you to stay happy and feeling good. Therefore, exercise during pregnancy can help the mother-to-be balance their hormones and prevent anxiety attacks. Always speak to your doctor before embarking on any type of exercise programme whilst pregnant.

* Breathing – Try to practice breathing exercises as often as possible as they are not only beneficial in controlling anxiety attacks whilst pregnant, but are needed during labour and birth. It is advised to put your hand over your stomach and take slow, deep breaths. This expands and compresses your stomach softly whilst you are inhaling and exhaling. By doing these exercises you can relieve your stress and any worries you may have.

* Diet – A healthy balanced diet is vitally important whilst pregnant as you are not only feeding yourself, but also your unborn baby. Your diet should contain plenty of fruit and vegetables as they contain essential elements required by the baby during pregnancy. These foods also contain chemicals which are helpful in controlling anxiety attacks during pregnancy.

* Sleep – Pregnant women are advised to rest and take ample sleep. Research reveals that a good sleep pattern can cure many ailments including stress related problems.

Pls help…re SSRI and Social Anxiety?

Pls help…I used Prozac 20mg for six months for my depression and social anxiety and stopped it abruptly, then after 3 weeks, I had a relapse, I’m experiencing same symptoms as with my 1st episode. I start taking again the pills and I’m on it’s 3rd week, however no improvement yet. Pls help. Thanks!

Don’t give up yet it can take up to six weeks to get into your system and start to be effective. I feel your pain though because I am also on it and have been having a lot of success on it. Give it some time and you will feel better. If not after six weeks then see your doctor for something else. Good Luck
