anxiety hiv
Hi my nmae is Anna, I have anxiety so bad that I thikkyi HIV and all?

turns 26 years old and am thikky Dieng time all I have a tendency to if I see something wrong with me I know I have

It is not necessary to give his name here. The first step is to identify the problem. There is no reason why you think you may have HIV? If so, go see a doctor and get tested. I think there's a good chance that the real problem is the management of anxiety. If this is the problem, you have to try first. Otherwise, the HIV test becomes negative and I just think that is a false negative. Please speak to your doctor about anxiety – after HIV testing.

anxiety medicine list
How to reduce anxiety?

I’m having a surgical procedure done next week and couldn’t sleep last night. I am somewhat anxious. Do you think my doctor could prescribe an anti-anxiety medicine or sleep medicine?
There’s a list of medicine that I can’t take a week prior to surgery, but I am wondering if I can take a medicine to calm me down or help me sleep?
Thanks for the kind words!

Right before most surgical procedures, they will inject you with some form of benzodiazapene that will not only calm you down, it will also block your memory of the whole experience. Benzodiazapenes are commonly prescribed to treat many forms of anxiety disorders. Talk to your Dr and see what he thinks would help you most. Good Luck ! :)

national anxiety screening day

Once a year as Fall starts shading into Winter, October comes with the promise of Mental Awareness Week. By tradition, every Thursday of the week is National Depression Screening Day. This program was begun by Screening for Mental Health, Inc., a non-profit group, in 1991 and it has become an increasingly important early warning system. Just as we all routinely accept the idea of screening for breast cancer, lung cancer, heart disease and other physical disorders, it’s time to apply the same approach to mental illness. Too often, people fall more seriously ill because they do not see a doctor early enough. There are many reasons for this. There’s considerable social stigma for those judged mental ill. Worse, almost 50 million in the US are without any medical insurance, and even those with insurance often find their policies not not cover “wellness” screening activities. So, on this Thursday, local mental health professionals volunteer their time across America. You will find sessions in schools, colleges, shopping malls and public buildings. These sessions are completely free and absolutely confidential. This is your chance to find out more about anxiety and depression in general, and to talk face-to-face with a counselor if you think you may have problems. Last year, there were about 3,000 sessions run and professionals saw 85,000 people walk in. There are also online programs and a toll-free telephone line operating around the year. Why bother? The answer is itself somewhat depressing. Regardless of age, race and social class, full clinical depression affects more than 20 million adults in the US. Curiously, four times more women than men are diagnosed as depressed. Millions more suffer from anxiety and panic disorders. A recent nationwide survey found more than 40% of college students so badly affected by anxiety, they could only function by relying on alcohol and drugs. Let’s be clear about this. These are serious illnesses and one of the possible outcomes is suicide. Even if people continue to live, their lives are often so damaged they cannot continue to work and become institutionalized. So there is benefit for tax payers, families and those affected if there’s early diagnosis and effective treatment. Yet research suggests that more than 60% of people who suffer from anxiety and depressive disorders do not seek treatment. This is ironic because the medical evidence shows that medication, counseling and therapy cures more than 80% of those affected. Attending one of these session is not a substitute for going to see your own doctor but it’s a start. It will tell you whether your symptoms are real and serious enough to justify treatment. One of the complications is that too many people are diagnosing themselves and deciding they should just start a course of xanax. Anyone with a credit card can buy xanax from an online pharmacy without a prescription. Even though this drugs is highly effective in treating anxiety, the best results come when you combine xanax with counseling and therapy. If you do not learn how to cope without drugs, there is a serious risk of addiction.

anxiety young adults
Seperation anxiety in teenagers or young adults?

I’m well aware young children can experience seperation anxiety, but is it possibly for older people in their teens or possibly early adulthood to experience this?

I’m not saying stuff like refusing to be parted at all, but other things like being mortally petrified at the thought of travelling to another country, state or even city without parent(s), or even going to a sleepover in early teens.

If it does exist, is it rare and can it be fixed?

Its real and its not rare! Why do you think there is so much partying at college- a coping mechanism for sure. It is really simply part of growing up and a necessary passage. I married and moved 3000 miles away from home at 22. Man did I suffer the pain of that move, and for a long time too. But, in time, I overcame and learned how to cope. Now I’m a stronger person for it. Like they say, no pain, no gain, and it really is true in a lot of cases. But if you are suffering this, or know someone who is, the best thing you can do is get someone who understands to walk through the transitions with you just as you would for a little one who is having seperation anxiety. Small steps with a friend ( or family member) will make the anxiety lessen and give you hope that you are not alone and that you can make the break in time!

Hi there, the best thing from personal experience is support. Having someone who understands and can relate.

Have you a professional in your life who knows about what you are experiencing?

I am an admin for a support site, it’s not very popular so you don’t have to worry. If you’d like to check it out the website is www.sdforum.ishyworld.com it’s free and all you need is a username and password.

I’d like to see you there, or maybe get to know you so I can maybe help you better?

Lou.

anxiety therapist
Claustrophobia and Anxiety Therapist in Manhattan or Stamford CT?

Hi – Can anyone recommend a reputable therapist that help cure Claustrophobia/Anxiety attacks in Manhattan or in Stamford CT? Thanks in advance for your legitimate answers.

I’m sorry I don’t know for that specific area. But did you know you can go to your regular MD? From that regular doctor you can get a basic prescription, or a referral to a therapist that they know. Claustrophobia and anxiety attacks are a big deal in your life, and they are very common (though people don’t talk about them much). The treatments — both medical and therapy-related — are pretty straightforward, and the BEST therapist is one you feel comfortable with. So even if you dodn’t have a recommendation, you can decide if you want to see a man or a women — and if it matters to you if the therapist is older or younger. It is okay to ask them some questions on the phone, like how much they charge, if they have dealt with a lot of anxious clients, how they feel about meds, if they take insurance, etc.

I really wish you well. Anxiety and claustophobia have physical components, not just mental ones, and it’s normal to need help from a professional. Nobody should expect to just pull themselves together or snap out of it or any other insensitive suggestions made by people who don’t really know what they’re talking about.

anxiety self help association

What personality trait bothers you most strongly? Do you work too hard? Are you compulsive about minor things, or do you overlook them without realizing it? Developing a personal development plan can help you to focus on those components of your personality that you desire to change.

By means of personal development, people learn to realize their unique strengths and shortcomings. They solve problems and strengthen relationships by capitalizing on positive characteristics and avoiding frailties. To do this, a person must take a serious look at problematic aspects of his or her nature and determine the best way to change them.

Developing a formal personal development plan takes honesty, perseverance, and plenty of energy. To begin, review your strengths and weaknesses honestly. Then, decide which you believe you can change. These difficult analyses are a significant step in personal values development. When you have completed these tasks, you need to be motivated to work to improve those parts of your character least attuned to your own personal values.

Developing a personal development plan needs input from a different, trustworthy individual in your life. Find someone who knows you more fully than anyone else. Ask that individual for his or her perception of your strengths and weaknesses. Encourage this individual to help you in your quest for personal development and self improvement.

Many self improvement books offer only basic personal development techniques. Although these can be useful, they aren’t always helpful in specific situations. Moreover, creating a formal personal development plan without consulting a trustworthy professional is nearly impossible.

Other conventionally used methods for self improvement consist of behavior therapy and support groups. These, however, only encourage people to focus on features of negative attitudes and actions that they already see and understand. These approaches focus on the features, not the root, of the issue.

A better strategy for helping people deal with personality faults and capitalize on their strengths is personal development hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy professionals are able to utilize this therapy to help people to form a formal personal development plan. These practitioners assist individuals to evaluate faults and find unique strategies for working toward self improvement.

Usually, those who are critical thinkers or have difficulty accepting directional suggestions find conventional approaches to self improvement hypnotherapy less helpful than do suggestible people. For these individuals, Ericksonian techniques for personal development hypnotherapy, and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), are more effective. These techniques are quite effective in helping critical thinkers to strive for self improvement.

Individuals with elevated anxiety levels often benefit from self improvement hypnotherapy. In the process of therapy, regression or increased recall methods may allow the individual to describe subconscious, pervasive reasons for anxiety. After understanding what creates the individual’s anxiety, a professional hypnotherapist can suggest personal development techniques that assist the individual to reduce situational stress. This alone often motivates them to address issues.

Persons who are dependent on food or nicotine often gain help from Ericksonian or traditional styles of self improvement hypnotherapy as well. Through hypnotherapy, they become less dependent on food or nicotine to provide feelings of peace and tranquility. Additionally, hypnosis professionals assist clients to overcome subconscious associations between these habits and pleasurable activities like listening to music or watching television.

Developing an effective personal development plan often necessitates the intervention of an objective counselor. Identifying one’s strengths and employing them to conquer problem areas is difficult. Some persons struggle with the admission of their vulnerabilities to themselves; it is even more difficult to admit these issues in behavioral or group therapy.

Self improvement hypnotherapy aids persons to deal with these struggles at the subconscious level, at their origination. Professionals who have learned this approach aid individuals by giving concrete or subliminal ideas for helping them to focus on personal development.

Summary:
Most people yearn to change some aspect of their personality or actions. Conventional self help books and behavioral treatments try to assist persons to form a personal development plan. These persons are limited, however, by their lack of ability to address problem actions in the subconscious, where problems begin. Personal development hypnotherapy using either conventional or Ericksonian techniques is perfect for aiding individuals to grow beyond weak points by treating the root of the problem.

Many people have difficulty admitting their shortcomings to others, or they lack the requisite financial resources to afford the help of a therapist. Often, custom hypnosis recordings made by a skilled hypnotherapist skilled in Ericksonian Hypnotherapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming are be quite beneficial.

anxiety adolescent
Would this cause an adolescent to develop major depressive disorder and severe social anxiety?

I was wondering, if both parents had the mental disorder that caused them to want the adolescent to be perfect.

Also, if the mother constantly accused the child of things the child did not do and stated she was jelous because the father purchased the child clothing for the child’s birthday and christmas. Also, the mother had some sort of eating disorder with side effects of a bad mood.

Yet, the father was nice and had a very stable mood. Although the father was intimately distant, even when physically present.

Would that have any contribution to an adolescent developing major depressive disorder and severe social anxiety?

Yes, I believe it would. The kind of upbringing that a child has, will remain with that child all his or her life. Most people who have had a dysfunctional family background will manifest social anxiety and other emotional and depressive symptoms unless helped through therapy or psychological intervention. If your parents won’t take you, go by yourself to see a therapist. They are listed in your phone directory under “psychologists” or “counselors”. Good luck!
