anxiety bible study
Why does religion make my stomach hurt? Why do “Bible studies” cause me such anxiety?

Reading the Bible and studying the scriptures I find to be well worth my time, but add a religious setting and flavor and nausea follows.

Because it is all a bunch a crap to make you think ” Oh I better listen to someone else because my thoughts are wrong. People want to control other people why trying to scare them with bible writings .The bible and religion has caused much hatred And sins over the years and some people will kill you if you do not believe the Christian ways. Look what white man did to the American Indian. Look what it has caused people to become in other countries. What is important is that you live a clean life and take care of your family and be good to the earth and animals.Do you really think Bush is a God fearing man, ” If he was he would not have sent people to the electric chair or sent our boys over seas to kill other people for oil. We have plenty of oil and need to find other ways for energy which in fact we have but the oil business is afraid to lose money.I wonder if any of the men that were sentenced to death were innocent.

anxiety switch

In modern days, the technological advancements bring the joy of enjoying the world at the comfort of home on one hand, but also provide an intense experience of stressors on the other. Research suggests that a continuous usage of mobile phone causes anxiety and self-esteem problems in individuals.

Australian Study

An Australian study reports that individuals may experience a feeling of anxiety, and depression due to prolonged use of mobile phone. They may also suffer from self-esteem problems. The problems generally occur as a result of getting addicted on their usage of mobile phones.

Dianne James, Brisbane based behavior researcher, argued that Australians are immensely dependable over the usage of mobile phones in particular. They are suffering with a wide range of problems including anxiety if they are forced to switch off their mobiles and even experiencing low self-esteem if not receiving calls or text messages.

The study included 80 individuals from age-group of 17 to 52 residing at Queensland.

Outcome of the Study

The study revealed unusual outcome. Most of the participants were found obsessed about their mobile phone when they were not allowed to access. Some of them experienced withdrawal symptoms if not receiving any text messages or calls in their mobiles. A few of the participants even reported that they had been suffered from sleep deprivation.

Analysis of the Study

The researchers compared the experience with that of substance addiction. They explained the pattern as same as acquiring instant gratification from substance abuse. It seems that the individuals experience a feeling of detachment if they can not access or use their mobile phones. For most of the participants, it was found that they got agitated during the discussion session when they are asked to switch off their mobile phones.

The study also concluded that the situation is not only based on a particular location, rather it assumed that this situation is quite prevalent both in national and international territory as well, which needs an extensive and increasing focus of attention.

Future Outcome

The study may have been further elaborated through online survey where emotional, psychological, social and financial aspects will be taken under consideration. The expected strength of the participants for this survey will be around 2000.

anxiety forum talk

Put another way, social anxiety is the fear and anxiety of being judged and evaluated negatively by other people, leading to feelings of inadequacy, embarrassment, humiliation, and depression. If a person usually becomes anxious in social situations, but seems fine when they are alone, then “social anxiety” may be the problem.
Social anxiety disorder (social phobia) is a much more common problem than past estimates have led us to believe. Millions of people all over the world suffer from this devastating and traumatic problem every day of their lives, either from a specific social phobia or from a more generalized social phobia. In the United States, epidemiological studies have recently pegged social anxiety disorder as the third largest psychological disorder in the country.

A specific social phobia would be the fear of speaking in front of groups, whereas generalized social anxiety indicates that the person is anxious, nervous, and uncomfortable in almost all (or the majority of) social situations.

People with social anxiety disorder usually experience significant emotional distress in the following situations:
Common anxiety provoking social situations include:
a) talking with people in authority
b) dating and developing close relationships
c) making a phone call or answering the phone
d) interviewing
e) attending and participating in class
f) speaking with strangers
g) meeting new people
h) eating, drinking, or writing in public
i) using public bathrooms
j) driving
k) shopping

Physical symptoms that may occur during, or in anticipation of, the situation include:
a) rapid heartbeat
b) sweating
c) muscle tension
d) upset stomach
e) trembling
f) shaky voice
g) dry mouth
h) blushing
i) queasiness
j) ticks
k) hyper ventilation
l) difficulty making eye contact.

People with social anxiety disorder may never know that their anxiety is irrational and does not make “head” sense. Nevertheless, “knowing” something is never the same as “believing” and “feeling” something. Thus, in people with social anxiety, thoughts and feelings of anxiety persist and show no signs of going away. It’s in such cases that On-line forums become handy.

The internet offers many sites that focus on the topic of social anxiety and have forums on these issues. This in an excellent opportunity, especially for individuals with this condition to get together and articulate their fears and feelings. These forums are purposely created to offer people with social phobia a chance of meeting similar individuals without feeling self-restricted and conscious. These on-line social forums are ideal for most people, because it gives them sufficient time to type or speak whatever they have in mind.

Relaxation is a very important thing to the patients of social anxiety and these on-line forums provides then with that much needed environment, where they need to feel comfortable. Different resources that may be of interest to sufferers of social anxiety disorders are all offered to them. It also makes communication to individuals with similar conditions easy. The social anxiety forums also offer a good environment to meet new people from various parts of the world and make friends, other than just learning about their experience with social anxiety. You can also learn new tricks of managing the condition and also share tips of your own.

The number of social anxiety on-line forums is growing fast, so you are sure to find many. They may be all similar but offering different content. They provide chat capability where instant communication is possible in addition to forum boxes, where you can leave your comment, and it can be answered immediately or when someone logs into the site. It therefore pays to check on-line for these social anxiety forums if you are a sufferer of anxiety. AND Who knows; you might just find the right help.

anxiety in pregnancy

Anxiety attacks during pregnancy are a very common occurrence for a number of women. Pregnancy can be stressful and especially difficult if you are nervous, anxious, highly strung, tense, and sensitive or already suffer from anxiety attacks. Often it is the excitement of the baby that brings on anxiety attacks. They can also be brought on when a woman was not expecting to get pregnant and finds herself in that situation. Other times, anxiety attacks are brought on because the woman just becomes worried with the whole pregnancy in general.

It can be hard not to experience anxiety attacks during pregnancy. If a woman has already experienced one high risk pregnancy before, then there is a chance that she is going to expect this pregnancy to be the same. If it is a first pregnancy, the expectant mother is also most likely going to experience a good bit of anxiety about the labour and birth. She will have issues about being a good mother, overall health concerns and in some cases even financial concerns. Also, those who have suffered miscarriages are especially prone to anxiety attacks, for obvious reasons.

Anxiety attacks during pregnancy are also likely to be higher in women who already experience them. However, even a normal healthy pregnancy can be plagued with anxiety attacks. If you can try to understand the reasons why you are experiencing anxiety attacks during pregnancy then you may find it is easier to cope with them.

It is also worth keeping in mind that anxiety attacks during pregnancy can be attributed to an increased level of hormones. Blood sugar levels are constantly fluctuating from carrying and feeding the unborn child, as well as digestive, breathing and circulatory systems undergoing change.

It is a time in a pregnant woman’s life when she is more vulnerable. This reduced level of control can add to the perceptions of stress and anxiety. Emotional responses can cause physical changes which can have a negative effect on the unborn child. Anxiety attacks during pregnancy can cause conditions such as premature labour, a low birth weight baby, slow labour and delivery and possibly contribute to other conditions and complications during labour and birth.

Dealing with anxiety attacks during pregnancy can be a very trying time for all those concerned. This can become even more of a problem if anxiety attacks were not an issue before the pregnancy started.

To help prevent anxiety attacks then there are a few simple steps that you can try. These are the same self help techniques used to control anxiety attacks in general, but are extremely beneficial and important during pregnancy:

* Exercise – during pregnancy it is not only beneficial to the physical well being of the mother, but also to their emotional being. Exercise produces endorphins that are naturally produced by the body. These help you to stay happy and feeling good. Therefore, exercise during pregnancy can help the mother-to-be balance their hormones and prevent anxiety attacks. Always speak to your doctor before embarking on any type of exercise programme whilst pregnant.

* Breathing – Try to practice breathing exercises as often as possible as they are not only beneficial in controlling anxiety attacks whilst pregnant, but are needed during labour and birth. It is advised to put your hand over your stomach and take slow, deep breaths. This expands and compresses your stomach softly whilst you are inhaling and exhaling. By doing these exercises you can relieve your stress and any worries you may have.

* Diet – A healthy balanced diet is vitally important whilst pregnant as you are not only feeding yourself, but also your unborn baby. Your diet should contain plenty of fruit and vegetables as they contain essential elements required by the baby during pregnancy. These foods also contain chemicals which are helpful in controlling anxiety attacks during pregnancy.

* Sleep – Pregnant women are advised to rest and take ample sleep. Research reveals that a good sleep pattern can cure many ailments including stress related problems.

anxiety app for iphone

The iPhone, being a revolutionary handset, has enforced radical changes in how people use cell phones. Also, it has become a key to a virtual gold mine wherein independent iPhone app developers can earn millions of dollars.

The Apple application store had been distinct and at the same time tumultuous because it had post changes in the way the mobile applications are delivered and developed. It had made an open market wherein developers can turn from rags to riches and earn money with minimal resources, as long as they have the talent and the luxury of time.

Apple has brought down the roadblocks to entry when it comes to creating iPhone applications. Although Apple will carry out 30% of the total sales, they will be responsible in providing the sales, development platforms, billing and distribution. This will then allow the developers to fully concentrate on the things they love or doing best without having the anxiety about the distribution, marketing and setting up payments.

After its launching on July 2008, the Apple Store had become a source of a developer’s dream to come to a reality. For instance, Steve Demeter, the developer of the popular iPhone game called Trism had declared that he had attained $250,000 profit in only two months time. He had a few people helping him whom he had paid $500 each. If the flow continues at this rate, Demeter will roughly earn $2 million by the end of next year.

Bart Decrem, CEO of Tapulous, had developed a free application called the Tap Tap Revenge which is a music-rhythm game that employs the use of the iPhone’s accelerometer and touch screen features had attain a milestone of a total of 1,000,000 downloads in two  weeks time after its launching. An estimated of 1.75 million users have downloaded the game, Tap Tap Revenge and Decrem expects to double it in the next months. To gain more profits, the company Tapulous had inserted advertisements in the game. In the near future, the company plans to release a new version for them to earn more money. Moreover, Decrem had been silent to disclose the exact profit money, but the estimated earning of the iPhone application that his company is earning about $5,000 to $10,000 daily.

For the above two developers, according to them, the recipe to success is paying attention to every detail, keeping the application alive and engaging in variety of game play and at the same time, spreading popularity. You must come up with the generic idea and implement it properly in order for you to stand out. Both Trism and Tap Tap Revenge was initially become known in the Jailbreak community and it call forth a loyal coming before it was launched in the Application store for a broader market. Both the developers of this application look at the App store to be an exciting landscape to enjoy and at the same time earn. They have been considered themselves as big fishes in the pond that have future plans in emerging in the iPhone applications market.

test anxiety statistics
Post-test anxiety?

I did a statistics test today and at the time I thought I did really well but when I came out of the exam people were saying about the answers they got for a regression question, and my answers were different. Should I really be this worried? All day i’ve been feeling like an idiot and thinking really negative thoughts about myself.

Don’t be such a wimp.

Wait for the results and if you muffed it, just take it again.

anxiety eye pain

Insomnia is an epidemic afflicting the majority of the population at some time or another. It affects our mood and impairs physical and mental performance.

For some, the mere thought of not being able to get to sleep gives them insomnia. For others, sleeplessness is a debilitating symptom of wider conditions like depression, stress, anxiety, chronic pain or the menopause. Sleep deprived new parents often struggle with the pressures of looking after a baby who keeps them awake night after night. It’s difficult to get things done when you’re physically and emotionally exhausted.

We know that there are different levels of sleep and that REM sleep, or the ‘rapid eye movement’ state in which we dream, is important for our mental health. Sleep deprivation is a recognised form of torture as well as a fast route to madness.

Insomnia is both the cause and effect of many common maladies of modern life. Lack of sleep can be a trigger for emotional breakdown as well as causing accidents and impairing performance. As a symptom it exacerbates the associated condition, perpetuating the downward spiral of, for example, depression or anxiety.

Sometimes, insomnia is simply the result of a broken routine. There are lots of common external factors. There are as many cures as there are causes of insomnia and it can often be overcome without resorting to medication. But it is still important to see a doctor to ensure there are no underlying health issues to be dealt with.

Hypnotherapy is often seen as a last resort after all else fails when, in fact, just going through the process of learning self-hypnosis is a big step in the right direction. As we fall asleep and wake up we enter ‘hypnogogic’ and ‘hypnopompic’ states of hypnosis quite naturally. These are brief phases where brain function changes during the transition into deeper sleep states.

Once in hypnosis, subconscious patterns of disrupted or disturbed sleep behaviour can be adjusted with the help of a good practitioner to suit the lifestyle and expectations of the most long-suffering insomniac.

The key to success, whatever method used to bring and end to the distress of sleepless nights, is to find a practitioner who will assess individual circumstances and treat accordingly rather than offer an arbitrary catch-all remedy. It is important to bear in mind that, even after putting up with the misery of sleep loss for years, it’s never to late to do something about it.

There are a number of practical ’sleep hygiene’ measures which help re-establish a healthy pattern.

Set a schedule: Go to bed at a set time each night and get up at the same time each morning. Disrupting this schedule may lead to insomnia. Don’t have a lie-in at the weekends. You’ll be tired on Morning.

Exercise:

Try to exercise 20 to 30 minutes a day. Daily exercise often helps people sleep, although a workout soon before bedtime may interfere with sleep. For maximum benefit, exercise about 5 to 6 hours before going to bed.

Avoid caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol:

Avoid drinks that contain caffeine, which acts as a stimulant and keeps people awake. Stimulants like caffeine can be found in certain food, drinks and prescription or over the counter drugs. Smokers tend to sleep very lightly and often wake up in the early morning due to nicotine withdrawal. Booze impairs the quality of sleep.

Relax before bed:

A warm bath, reading, or another relaxing routine can make it easier to fall sleep. You can train yourself to associate certain restful activities with sleep and make them part of your bedtime ritual.

Sleep until sunlight:

If possible, wake up with the sun, or use very bright lights in the morning. Sunlight helps the body’s internal biological clock reset itself each day.

Don’t lie in bed worrying: The anxiety of being unable to fall asleep can actually contribute to insomnia. Distract yourself with a book until you feel sleepy.

Control your room temperature: Maintain a comfortable temperature in the bedroom. Extreme temperatures may disrupt sleep or prevent you from falling asleep.

Replace an uncomfortable or old bed:

Saggy, lumpy beds can aggravate back pain as well as keeping you awake.

Block out noise:

Wear ear plugs if you live in a noisy street, flight path or your partner snores.

Turn it off:

Keep televisions and computer games and out of the bedroom if you want to unwind.

Herbal solution:

If you have trouble falling asleep night after night, use a herbal remedy to break the cycle.

See your doctor:

You may be ill if you’re always tired. Tiredness can be an early symptom of a variety of illnesses.

Learn self hypnosis:

A good hypnotherapist will teach you a variety of relaxation techniques to enable you, with practice, to fall asleep quickly and sleep soundly through the night. They will also help you cope which any contributory factors like stress or anxiety.

anti anxiety pregnancy

A health watchdog has said that GPs and midwives need to do more to spot the signs of depression in pregnant women and new mothers. The National Institute for health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) has also said that women with anxiety or eating disorders also to be identified.

The guidance was welcomed by mental health experts as one in seven women experience a mental health disorder at some point in pregnancy or after the birth. Currently only around 30% are being diagnosed with mental health issues during or after pregnancy. The mental health problems that pregnant women and new women are at risk of include depression, anxiety, eating disorders and severe mental health conditions such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

Dr Steve Pilling, a consultant clinical psychologist who worked on the guidance by NICE said that there was “very significant under-recognition” of mental health issues in pregnancy. NICE has advised that healthcare staff dealing with pregnant women or new mothers ask three questions during ante or postnatal checks:

- Have you felt down, depressed or hopeless during the last month?
- Have you been bothered by having little interest or pleasure in doing things?
- Is this something you feel you need or want help with?

The NICE guidance goes on to say that women needing psychological treatment should normally be seen within one month and no longer than three months after an initial assessment.

Treatment for women with such problems may include counselling or anti-depressants, with the health worker explaining how medication may affect breastfeeding. Those who worked on the guidance have stressed the importance of using it to identify women who may be scared to ask for help for fear as being labelled as a “bad mother” or having their children taken away from them. They have also warned that leaving mental illness untreated could have consequences for both mother and child, including poor educational performance for the child and anxiety.

Dr Gillian Leng, who led the team which compiled the guidance, said: “This is not just about helping women get through the ‘baby blues’ – we are looking at all types of mental health disorders and distinguishing the ups and downs of everyday life for more serious conditions.”

Fiona Shaw, a patient who also helped draft the guidelines, told how she was admitted to a mental health unit after the birth of her second daughter. She was not eating and was self-harming but had been told by her doctor to either take anti-depressants and stop breastfeeding or just “grin and bear it”. She added: “Many women are concerned they will not be listened to if they come forward, or that they will be judged, or that their condition is not serious enough to warrant help from a healthcare professional.”

Paul Farmer, chief executive of mental health charity Mind, said: “We welcome these guidelines, which look to be a very promising start. The challenge, as always, will be ensuring that they are implemented. Parents deserve the very best support at the start of their child’s life. The resources to make these excellent guidelines a reality must be available, otherwise they risk becoming little more than a wish-list.”
